Initial VISIT

Your initial visit will take up to an hour. Dr. Emily will ask you questions about your health history and perform a thorough physical exam, with attention to the area of complaint. Your visit may include a wide variety of modalities, which will frequently include chiropractic manipulation therapy, some physiotherapy modalities, and a home exercise program that suits your abilities.

The therapy

During a typical chiropractic adjustment, the chiropractor places you in specific positions to treat affected areas. The chiropractor uses their hands to apply a specific, controlled, force to a joint, pushing it slightly beyond its usual range of motion. You may experience a normal, popping, or cracking sounds as your joints are manipulated during your treatment session. After the visit, some people experience minor side effects one to two days later.  These may include soreness in the areas treated. However, most people report a feeling of increased range of motion and decreased pain or tension.

Follow up Visits

Subsequent visits will be between 20 and 30 minutes. Dr. Emily will follow up with you on how you feel and how you are responding to your last visit. This appointment will also include the treatment. The number of follow up visits is dependent on the area, cause and the severity of the complaint.
